What to Pack for Vietnam

Vietnam's climate varies from north to south and season to season, so pack light layers you can mix and match. Here are the essentials.

Clothing

Lightweight, breathable clothes for the heat; a light rain jacket; a warm layer if you're heading to Sapa or visiting the north in winter; and modest cover-ups (shoulders and knees) for temples and pagodas.

Footwear

Comfortable walking shoes for cities and trekking, plus sandals for the beach and cruise decks.

Don't forget

Sunscreen, insect repellent, a reusable water bottle, a universal adapter, and any personal medication. Everything else you can pick up easily along the way — and your guide is always on hand to help.
